Like a kind of anthropologist from another planet, I work to understand the ethos of a place by documenting the concrete visual evidence of what its inhabitants choose to discard or to treasure - and how those specific interactions and choices transform the landscape. This evidence of human participation in the environment, here in the form of garbage interrupting a landscape, is presented as a type of unintentional, ephemeral still life. A fleeting meditation on a confusing bounty. Additional images can be found on Instagram under #garbagesurvey
